Join hundreds of geeks, startups, and members of the tech community for GeekWire’s fall meetup…and/or come to enjoy Karaoke for a Cause. Two events in one! It’s all happening Tuesday, October 23 at the Crocodile Cafe in Belltown.
Meetup and Elevator Pitch, 5-7 PM: The focus is casual conversation but with a bonus feature: a brief, live version of GeekWire’s popular Elevator Pitch. Three pre-selected startups will take the stage to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges, and compete for bragging rights and prizes. And though it’s a reality-TV inspired spectator sport, attendees can enjoy great networking as well as insightful feedback from the investor panel. Consider it the Pacific Northwest version of The Voice meets Shark Tank. Judges: Rich Barton, Dan Shapiro, and Jonathan Sposato.
Karaoke for a Cause, 7-9 PM: Join the tech community in one of its favorite past times, karaoke, while supporting Year Up Puget Sound as they strive to close the opportunity divide in our region and equip young adults to succeed in great jobs (many in tech!). Enjoy networking and entertainment, belt out your favorite tunes and/or bid on local tech celebrities to perform for you. Need a little liquid courage to get on stage? Singers, your first beverage is covered (while supplies last). Curious to hear the vocal stylings of such tech celebs as Jonathan Sposato, Dan Shapiro, Rand Fishkin and more? Everything has a price (and all bids go directly to support Year Up). Bid high enough and you can even choose the song!
